Step 1
Create a LinkedIn Developer App
Go to the LinkedIn Developer Portal and create a new app. Associate it with your company page, add the required OAuth 2.0 scopes (w_member_social for personal posts, w_organization_social for company pages), and note your Client ID and Client Secret.
Step 2
Set Up OAuth 2.0 Credentials in n8n
In n8n, add a new LinkedIn OAuth2 API credential. Enter your Client ID and Client Secret from the LinkedIn app. Set the redirect URL to match your n8n OAuth callback URL. Complete the OAuth flow by signing into LinkedIn when prompted.
Step 3
Build Your Content Source
Decide where your post content comes from. Options include a Google Sheets content calendar, an RSS feed from your blog, an Airtable base with queued posts, or manual input through an n8n form. Set up the corresponding node to read from your chosen source.
Step 4
Add the LinkedIn Node
Add the LinkedIn node to your workflow. Select whether you are posting to a personal profile or an organisation page. Map the post text from your content source using expressions. Add any relevant hashtags or formatting to the post body.
Step 5
Add Scheduling and Conditions
If posting on a schedule, add a Cron Trigger at the start of your workflow. Add an IF node if you need to filter posts by status (only publish approved posts) or check that the content meets minimum length requirements before posting.
Step 6
Test with a Draft Post and Go Live
Run the workflow manually and verify the post appears correctly on LinkedIn. Check formatting, links, and hashtags. Once you are satisfied with the output, activate the workflow. Monitor the first few automated posts to confirm everything works as expected.
